Day 17!!!

Today, to make a difference, I got up early in the morning to help my mum make pendants. I did this for 4 hrs. I also called Heather and did a favour for both her and my mum and came up with a science fair I idea as we needed to get started and my mum had been begging me to do it for ages. I then helped my dad with the shopping and went to visit my grandma to give her some company. Then when I arrived home, I made some treats to bring to school for tomorrow (lemon muffins and meringues). I then helped my mum make a roast dinner, and then for the reat of the evening, I helped clean the dishes and make new stock for my mum.

I know that everyone has appreciated my hard work over the last 17 days, and I have certainly enjoyed it. I have received many smiles, 'thank you's, hugs and more. These have also made me smile everytime I did something nice for someone.

I am now EXTREMELY happy to say that I have made a difference in my community in 17 days!!!!! I think that because of what I have done lately, I might incorporate some of this experience into everyday life, e.g. I might bring muffins to school for everyone, help out around the house more often, etc. I really enjoyed this assignment and I would actually like to do the same in the future. Thanks Mr. Read for giving us such a fun and challenging task!!!

Day 16!!!

Almost finished 17 days to make a difference!!! Because of this I decided I put a lot of effort into this today and tomorrow so that I can just finish with a bang! I would have put in more effort today but I only got home from gym at 8.00. In class today there was a science model and I was asked to try it out. Even though I really didn't want to do it, I decided to be polite and not argue about trying it out. When I heard about why my brother was sad, I didn't make fun of him, unlike what I usually would have done and laughed at him. I also donated 10,000 grains of rice on freerice.com!!! It did take a long time but I know that it was worth it! I also volunteered to help my dad load the dishwasher and made my dad a cup of coffee. At the same time I also made my miserable brother a hot chocolate and volunteered to make my sister a lemon and honey drink as she has a really bad cough right now. When my dad came into the lounge, I was watching my favourite programme but I gave him the remote instead.

My brother was quite glad that I made him a hot chocolate and didn't talk about what he was sad about. My dad was happy that I made him a coffee and did so much for him this evening. I put a smile on my sister's face when I offerred to make her a cough syrup. When I tried out the science model today, it made others laugh so it made me feel happy.

Today was a very good day, and I tried very hard and in the end, I felt very proud to have made so many people happy.

Day 15!!!

Today I had to get up early to go to training - on a PUBLIC HOLIDAY!!! But even though I did have to get up REALLY early for 4 hours of training, I did manage to fit in some work on the pendants!!! Although I swear if I see another one of those pendants again that I'll die, I'm very proud of what I have done over the past 4 days, and I know that so is my mum. I also helped out today by making the mint sauce for the roast dinner. After dinner I made even more pendants with my mum! I felt really good for doing all these deeds, and so was everyone else afterwards.

Day 14!!!

Today I am feeling much better!!! YAY!!! Today was basically the same as yesterday as I made pendants for my mum and then went to gym to help out with the sausage sizzle and also in the kitchen. Helping out at the gymnastics competitions is always fun-when it's a rhythmic competition or an artistic one. Then when I had finished my training session, we stayed to support some of the younger gymnasts at our club. When I arrived home, I yet again helped my mum to make some more pendants.

My mum was happy that I helped her with the pendants because if I did not help her with this, then she would be working non-stop on this for weeks.

I felt very good to be doing so much work for my mum like this.

Day 13!!!

Today I was finally allowed a sleepin but because my mum still had a lot of work to do, I got up at 8.oo to get started on making pendants again. When mum got home from the craft fair, she was very surprised and happy at the progress I had made. Afterwards, I went to the artistic gymnastics competition, and helped out with the sausage sizzle, and I also helped my coach out a lot by being sensible for two hours of training while she did announcing for the competition on the other side of the gym. When I got home from gym, I ,once again, helped my mum to make the pendants. I did this from 5.30 all the way to 1.30 in the morning - I was staying up to watch the rugby finals.

My mum cannot thank me enough for all the work I have done for her on the pendants and all of our hard work will pay off when they are all finished.

I felt really good for doing the pendants for mum and they are looing great.

Because I have been sick this week, I have not been able to do all the good deeds I would have liked to have done otherwise.

Day 12!!!

Today (AGAIN) I was sick, but I did manage to make a difference around the house. Even though I was sick at home, I did help my mum with her jewellery business and made pendants with her all day. At gym, I helped set up all the chairs, blocks and ropes ready for the active and passive stretching with the artistic gymnasts. When I finally got home from gym, I shared my takeaways with my mum and then I helped her again with making the pendants for the jewellery.
My mum was very grateful for me helping her with the pendants as she has a huge order so she needs as much help as possible. My coach said thank you for me helping to set up and pack up for stretching, as she usually does it all.
I felt quite good after doing the deeds and I also really enjoyed making the pendants with my mum.

Day 11!!!

Today, yet again, I was sick! But today was also the European football final between Manchester United and Barcelona, so we had a few friends over to watch the game with us. I helped serve the drinks and food. My mum and sister were very grateful for this along with all the friends that I was serving. After the game my mum asked me to have a shower and so I did what she asked me to, even though I did not feel like getting up and doing something useful. I then went online to freerice.com and donated 3000 grains of rice to the less fortunate. I felt very very good for serving and I got many thanks and smiles off of everyone. I also felt good for donating the rice because 3000 grains of rice is going to go a long way.

Day 10!!!

I was sick again today but to make a difference, I decided to give my sick brother the remote when he asked for it. When my mum and grandma arrived home, I bought a chocolatebar to share with everyone. I felt good for sharing my chocolate and I think everyone appreciated what I had done for them. Sadly I did not do as much as I would have liked today but I wish to do it tomorrow.

Day 9!!!

Today I was away from school but I still managed to make a difference. I helped out my dad while leaving him alone so he could get on with his work like he asked for. I also bought my mum a chocolate bar out of the fundraising box which she was very thankful for and she enjoyed it very much. I felt very good for doin these things and I am quite sure my parents liked it a lot too. Although I did a few things today, I do wish I could of done some more things.

Day 8!!!

Today at school, we had music specialist, and I helped my friend Teagan when we were doing a worksheet and she wasn't too sure about many of the instruments. In period 5 I helped the house captains to organise the house captain's assembly for friday. At gym, I helped my coach set up all of the equipment ready for the stretching. When I got home from gym at 8.45, I helped my dad prepare my dinner and convinced my brother to give my sister the remote (usually I would have tackled him and taken it for myself).

I know I made a difference because my sister was very happy she finally had the remote, and so was my coach when she realized that the stretching things were all set up ready for her. Teagan was happy when she got the question right that I had helped her on too.

I love to have all ofthe smiles and 'thank you's I have been getting lately.

Day 7!!!

Today I stayed to watch the rugby in the middle of the night so that I could tell my family the score and to keep my brother company. I also made my mum a cup of coffee and helped clean the house for my mum. In the evening, our gym had a fundraiser at the berkleys cinema. I helped by selling at least 5 more tickets, which will go to gymnasts who are going on overseas tours. I then helped my dad unload the dishwasher.
I think my mum appreciated me helping her a lot because she said thank you, and also at the end of the day, she said thanks for helping out with tidying the house and helping out at the movie fundraiser.
I felt really good after doing these good deeds.

Day 6!!!

Today, I had my first competition of the season and so to make a difference, I decided to stay for the whole day, to cheer on everyone from my club and many others. But as I only got home around 7.00, I didn't know what to do. I then thought I could possibly go on freerice.com. After a lot of hard work and answering questions, I finally donated 8000 grains of rice for people in less fortunate countries.
I know that after I had stayed to cheer everyone on today they were really grateful and I think that I gave them a lot of confidence.
After I did these deeds, I felt really good and I also had a lot of fun doing them. Staying to watch my friends from gym compete was really fun and they all did really well. Playing on freerice.com was also really fun and I learnt a lot by going on many different subjects.

Day 5!!!

Today, I started by feeding the cats for my mum even though it was my sister's turn this week. And then I also shared my mentos and chocolate bar with my friends from room 9. At lunchtime when my friends and I were shooting hoops, I gave my friend the ball so that she could have another go instead of me. When my coach at gym needed to go help the other gymnasts out, I did her a favour and kept working hard by myself instead of slacking off while she wasn't looking. After training, we went to get takeaways, I shared my chips with my dad because he decided not to buy any for himself. When we got home, I gave my dad the computer even though I didn't want to because I was playing games.
I really feel good after doing all these good deeds today because seeing people smile because of what you just did for them really brightens up your day.
Everyone I effected today was very grateful (especially my friends who I gave chocolate to!!!).

Day 4!!!

Today to make a difference, I started off by walking to school with my brother for once so he wasn't lonely and at thesame time, this meant my mum didn't have to take me to school so she could relax for the morning. I had brought fudge to school and at lunchtime and morning tea I shared most of it with some friends and one of my friends gave me a stick of sherbet so I ended up sharing all of that out too. When I got home from gym, later that night, I decided to leave my dad with the remote instead of taking it from him. When my brother and sister got home and came upstairs, I raised $10 dollars for fundraising for gym.

I know I made a difference because my friends and brother were all very greatful about what I did or gave them. My dad was thankful that I left him the remote to decide what channel to watch. The fundraising money for gym will go to helping the coaches get trained to teach us.

When I did these things, I felt glad to see all of these people smile.

Day 3!!!

Today, I think I made a change by raising some more money for the 'World Vision 40 Hour Famine' in which I will be going without any texting for 40 hours, as I am very addicted to texting lately. I raised $20 from calling up my relatives and now my total money raised so far is $140!!! I also sorted out the laundry for my mum and helped clear the table for my dad.

I know that I made a difference because I know that the money I raised for World Vision is going to go a long way and will change many people's lives by giving them food, water and education. I know I really helped my mum and dad because they both thanked me.

My mum was very thankful as the laundry had been sitting there for days. My dad was also happy because he always clears the table and he was happy to have some help for once.

Day 2!!!

Today, to make a difference in the community I live in, I made my mum and dad a coffee and helped my friend pack up all of her gymnastics gear and leotards after training. I also let some other students at mathex borrow my ruler, compass, and protractor.

Even though I did not do much in my life to make a difference today, I think what I did help out a little bit as I was thanked by many people. I will try to make a bigger change tomorrow as I have a lot of time after school to help out around the house and possibly go around the street to get some sponsers for the 40 hour famine.

Day 1!!!

Today was the start of our 17 days to make a difference. After I got home from gym, I helped out my sick sister by fetching her food and by massaging her hands and shoulders. I also made my mum and dad a cup of coffee. At school I helped Sam to pack up the M1 computers at mathex and helped with taking them back. In hard materials, I helped Krisha to shape her wire into a heart because Mr. Grey was busy, and I also helped some of the other students to learn how to make their keyrings. I would have probably tried a little harder to make a difference today, but I did not have much time as I had gym until 8 O'clock this evening.
